Self-acceptance is about owning who you are—flaws, past, strengths, and all—without constantly judging yourself. In relationships, this level of maturity shifts everything. A leader, or mom, or partner who is comfortable being examined is also not likely trying to be fixed or validated.
People who lay themselves bare, likely only do that with people who listen, seek solutions, and accurately locate silver linings. We love more freely when vulnerability is possible, and healthy boundaries are understood because being loved by a SAFE Adult is worth all the time invested.
All humans value depth of connection, and aspire to open hearts until injury happens and we blame ourselves. It's easy to say we understand perfection is not possible then to move into the hard work of repair after injury happens. But I say often, across many years, that we humans poop everywhere! We must be willing to call it poop, pick up our poop, and expect the same from others with grace and humanity.
Mentorship is a relationship, and for so many this particular relationship is a corrective experience, one that heals infereority and amplifies self-compassion. Mentorship that allows us to evolve towards our higher self is priceless and I am in gratitude for all the mentors because I trust that leaders who embody these attributes are changing the world. Glory can be seen from Mars, it's in the get down, not the photographs.
Finding The Fit For You
Finding the right mentor is about more than just titles—it’s about connection, trust, and alignment. Look for someone who listens, challenges you, and has experience where you want to grow. The right mentor won’t just give advice—they’ll ask the right questions, share their journey honestly, and cheer you on without ego. It’s about chemistry, not just credentials.
